Selecting a reliable airline can make the difference between an enjoyable and a frustrating journey. For the seventh time since 1999, review website Skytrax has named Qatar Airways the best airline.
Based on a survey of 14 million customers from more than 100 countries conducted between September 2021 and August 2022, Qatar Airways was ranked as the best airline in the world to fly with in 2022 by the site.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said in a statement, “To be named as the World’s Best Airline was always a goal when we created Qatar Airways, but to win it for the seventh time and pick up three additional awards is a testament to all the hard work of our incredible employees.”
In 2017, Qatar will mark its 25th anniversary as an independent state.
The best business class in the world was also awarded to Qatar.
Singapore Airlines came in at No. 2, followed by Emirates of Dubai and ANA All Nippon Airways of Japan. Qantas Airways, an Australian airline, placed fifth overall out of more than 350 airlines surveyed by Skytrax.
Aside from the best cabin crew award, Singapore Airlines was also recognized as the cleanest airline, with ANA All Nippon Airways taking the runner-up spot. The low-cost airline category was won by Singapore Airlines’ Scoot, followed by Jetstar Airways of Australia. Singapore Airlines’ first-class cabin also took home some hardware.
