Sky’s second global syndication partner for its Glass offering will be MultiChoice Group (MCG), South Africa’s leading entertainment and services platform.
The syndication partnership will enable MCG to provide its customers with an even better way to connect to the content they enjoy, such as:
Glass panels: MCG customers will be able to purchase a variety of 4K QLED TVs with integrated sound bars that support Dolby Atmos in a variety of sizes and colors.
Glass provides a world-class streaming aggregation product, including collation and search functionality across MCG’s own content and third-party apps. This content will be available on glass panels as well as a variety of other multi-choice devices.
Stunning picture quality: The Glass 4k Ultra HD Quantum Dot screen produces over a billion colors and delivers a crystal-clear picture. You can talk to your TV to find out what you want to watch as easily as possible.
This agreement with MCG comes after the launch of Sky Glass in the United Kingdom in 2021, followed by Ireland and Italy in 2022. MCG will be Sky’s second Glass syndication partner, following the announcement last year of a partnership with Australian pay television company Foxtel.
Sky Glass is powered by Comcast’s global technology platform, which also serves Rogers, Cox, Shaw, and Videotron in North America.
“Following a very successful launch in the UK, Ireland, and Italy, we are thrilled that Glass will be coming to South Africa through Sky’s partnership with MultiChoice,” said Andrea Zappia, EVP and CEO New Markets and Businesses at Sky. This is Sky’s second international syndication agreement, following Foxtel, and our international expansion strategy will continue.
“Glass is a world-class content and app aggregation platform that simplifies content discovery through voice search and intelligent recommendations.”
“We are truly excited about the syndication partnership with Sky and Comcast, and what it means for our customers,” said Calvo Mawela, CEO of Multichoice Group. We understand that providing world-class content requires an exceptional customer experience. This syndication partnership exemplifies our commitment to putting customers’ needs at the center of everything we do, by improving both the viewing experience of customers and the demand for streaming aggregation.”
Sky’s streaming TV is based on technology developed as part of the Comcast Corporation through collaboration, using the same operating system and as a result of shared knowledge and expertise across the company.
