Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa officially launches its local EQ product offensive this month at the Festival of Motoring, introducing the all-new EQA sports SUV, EQB five-seven-seater family SUV, EQC midsize luxury SUV, and the EQS pioneering luxury saloon. The new Mercedes-EQ lineup offers progressive luxury, thrilling driving dynamics, and smooth, powerful, and efficient electric powertrains.

Mercedes’ electric initiative is in full swing with the EQ range, which follows the company’s ambitious goals of having more than half of the cars it sells feature electric powertrains—this includes all-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.

Mercedes-EQ, designed to become a sub-brand like Mercedes-AMG or Mercedes-Maybach, is built in accordance with the company’s “Electric First” mission statement.

The Mercedes-EQ is about more than just extending traditional Mercedes-Benz virtues like safety, responsibility, perfection, and fascination through the use of new technology like the electric powertrain. There’s also the connection between intelligence and emotion, which is also central to Mercedes-EQ.

Furthermore, Mercedes’ approach to sustainability is holistic. So, the company is doing its part to cut down on CO2 emissions, and with its Ambition 2039 plan, Mercedes is definitely paving the way for carbon-free transportation in the future.

Mercedes-EQ meets FOM

Visitors to the Festival of Motoring will be able to see the new EQ range in metal at the massive Mercedes-Benz stand in the John Love Launch Area at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. Mercedes-Benz product experts will be on hand to explain the advanced features of the models, demonstrate how simple it is to operate an EQ model, and walk visitors through the myriad technological highlights.

For those interested in buying a Mercedes-EQ, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services is readily available to explain various purchasing options. Looking for a smaller but no less stylish item to take home? Don’t forget to stop by the Mercedes-Benz Boutique, which is also located in the John Love Area.

After poring over the EQ vehicles, visitors can proceed to the pit area and sign up for a track experience in the all-new EQA and EQC. Whip around Kyalami in the expert hands of an AMG Driving Academy Instructor as they demonstrate the EQ models’ dynamic capabilities. Visitors too queasy for a quick lap but who still crave an adrenaline rush may test their mettle in the Mercedes-Benz pit area’s racing simulator, or strike their best pose in the 360-degree camera before posting photos to social media.

The Festival of Motoring, Africa’s largest industry-supported auto show, will return to Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on August 26-28, 2022.
