Mr. Richard Mugisha has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ecobank Rwanda. Mr. Mugisha succeeds Mr. Ivan Twagirashema, who retired in August 2023 after four years as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is credited with providing excellent strategic direction, encouraging innovation, maintaining solid financial performance, and upholding the bank’s commitment to ethical banking practices.


Mr. Mugisha’s appointment is part of Ecobank Rwanda’s continued commitment to expand its leadership team and further its vision of providing innovative financial solutions to the Rwandan market.

Mr. Mugisha is a seasoned entrepreneur and legal expert with over 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors in Rwanda and elsewhere. He has made substantial contributions to strategic growth and operational excellence in the organizations he has served, notably those in the financial sector.

Mr. Mugisha, a professional with an established track record, has continuously demonstrated extraordinary qualities in board leadership, stakeholder involvement, and his ability to foster new company strategies while giving important advice to a diverse client base. His considerable expertise and forward-thinking approach make him an invaluable member of Ecobank Rwanda’s leadership team.
